If you haven't heard already, we are moving back to Pittsburgh!
I will be taking a position as Research Manager for the Regional Biocontainment Laboratory (RBL) at the University of Pittsburgh starting December 3rd. The RBL falls within Pitt's new Center for Vaccine Research: http://www.cvr.pitt.edu/index.asp. My job will be to design and implement the aerobiology program. We will be developing aerosol infection animal models for infectious diseases that are of significant national security interest such as avian influenza, anthrax, and tuberculosis. I will also have a faculty position in the Graduate School of Public Health which will allow me to do some teaching. This is a unique position and will give me the opportunity to pursue some new avenues of research.
Matt has just started his fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at Emory. He will finish the last 6 months (January - June) at Pitt. He will be looking for a permanent position for after his fellowship either at UPMC or West Penn Hospital.
Luke and I will be temporarily moving in with Grandma and Grandpap Seman in November sometime before Thanksgiving. Matt, Filo, and the rest of our house will come north over Christmas. We are initially going to try to find a house in the Squirrel Hill area so that we can be close to where we work.
Thanks for everyone's support while we made this decision. It ended up being a much longer negotiation process than originally anticipated. The transition for all 3 of us will be stressful but we are looking forward to starting a new life in the 'Burgh.
